Pi, Baskerville and Lord Thomas

I’ve been so excited to share my session with three of the most beautiful cats in Cape Town.
Please meet Pi (who was incredibly shy and let me take a grand total of ten photos of before going back to bed), Baskerville, with his bushbaby eyes, and Lord Thomas, who clearly rules the roost!

We had the shoot at their home, and it was such a delight shooting in amongst some beautiful classic mid-century local furniture. I absolutely love midcentury design aesthetics (but that’s for a whole different blog).

Abi's Portrait Shoot in Majik Forest

Abi's mom won a shoot that I had donated to a raffle in support of Ace's Adoptaversary Walk this year, and we decided to have our shoot on a winter afternoon at Majik Forest in Durbanville.

It was such a treat shooting Abi and her mom together - I love having the opportunity to show the bond between a pet and their parent, and the love between these two was so easy and lovely to capture and share!

Personal Brand Shoot with Clint Morris

While dogs are my current love and focus photographically, I love working with interesting people to showcase their passions, and this shoot with Clint Morris was right up my alley!

We managed to catch the sunrise perfectly to accentuate the angles and curves of the Silo District - a perfect juxtaposition for the human form!
Clint is an avid runner who organises regular running meets and the like (I’m not a runner, can you tell?).
We had a lot of fun playing with the location and made some beautiful images for his social media marketing.

Puppy Fen's Portrait Session

Meeting and getting to photograph Fen was something really special.
Found as a stray tied with chord to a lamppost along the busy M5 highway and rescued by an amazing mom, Fen is an incredible little Labrador pup who only wants to make his mom Jenna happy. Incredibly clever and dangerously cute, I really had to work hard at making photos and not getting caught up in kissing and cuddling this wonderful boy all shoot long!

Lyla, Thuli & Kasper's Family Pet Portraits

I have to admit, from the moment dog-mom Nancy got in touch about a shoot with her and her parents’ dogs, I was so excited I could hardly stand it!

German Shepherds are one of my favourite breeds, and I would jump at the chance to make some portraits with one, nevermind three!

Lyla (11 weeks), Thuli (6 months) and Kasper (4 years) were such a fun bunch to shoot.
We had the amazing fortune of having the shoot in her parents' beautiful garden in Constantia, complete with a lavender field, an avocado grove and a little crop of olive trees

Unfortunately Nancy couldn't be at the shoot with her pups because her little baby girl decided to come a few days early, so she recruited her best friends, hubby and mom in as stand-in crew, and even though Thuli was being a typical crazy teen and Lyla was being her ditsy puppy self, we managed to work together to make some stunning photos of this wild bunch!

Below some of my favourite shots from the day!

Band Photography Session with Hezron Chetty

I recently had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Hezron Chetty for his new project, the ZugZwang project.

We held our shoot in the morning in the lofty hillside roads of Walmer Estate on the outskirts of Cape Town City Bowl. The forecast had us quite unsure what to expect of the weather, one moment it was raining, the next we had warm morning sun all around!

All in, a fun shoot with some gorgeous urban textures to play around with.

Have a listen to the ZugZwang project here and check out their Facebook page here.

Up for Adoption - Kaladin

African Tails has up for adoption the beautiful Kaladin, whom I got to photograph this week on his first beach visit! As of 23 February 2018 he is five weeks old, and has just started getting his sharp little teeth in.

Get in touch with African Tails ASAP to find out if little Kaladin would be a good fit for you!

Champers' Deer Park Adventure Shoot

Everything about our shoot with the bubbly Champers was just so. Much. Fun!
The only problem was that her mom couldn't come because it had to be on the sly - a surprise for her dad for Christmas!

As the shoot was a surprise gift from Champers' mom to her dad, aunt Rebecca dutifully stepped to the plate to chaperone her on her very own shoot up in the lofty hills of Cape Town City Bowl .
She was a bit suspicious of the camera for the first few minutes, but it really didn't take long for her to realise that we were all there to cheer her on and make her look as beautiful and happy as she made her parents feel every day!

Zenzi's Riverside Romp

Zenzi is one lucky pup - She gets to spend all day with her mom since she (Zenzi's mom that is) works from home, and it clearly shows in the deep bond they have between them.

Zenzi was absolutely pooped after her fun shoot in the grassy greenbelts of Constantia, where she got to explore in hills, rustle through shrubs and jump around in the shallow stream.
She even got to meet a horse, but she was none too impressed with it if we're honest!

Maya + Ty's Forest Adventure

Maya and Ty are siblings that couldn't be more different in personality and in looks, but the bond they have with each other and their mom was so easy to capture as we strolled through the forests of Newlands one afternoon in October.

Ty wasn't too impressed with the river-wading, though Maya took to it immediately and had a great time swimming in the shallow rock pools of cold mountain water!
